Model T To THe Ford Mustang History Lesson

Filed under: history — lloyd @ 12:26 pm

We have found a video on the brief history of Ford starting at the Model T up to the Mustang. Of course Ford started in the USA in 1896, but in Britain we also see Ford as British as for many decades cars over here were totaly different to those designed and manufactured across the pond. This shows the American view of the growth of the companies fortunes, but it is interesting to see and learn.
We aso tend just to look at the manufacturer of vehicles, but there are so many other divisions from finance to Ford parts to commercial vehicles and dont forget the motorsport involvement over the decades that is not mentioned here.

Ford Part Requests The Most Popular

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 12:09 pm

According to CarSpareFinder the popular car parts finder service on the web, Ford is the most popular make for request prices for used parts through their system.  In commercial terms the most successful makes are measured by how many new cars they sell, but should we refine these figure to include those owners of older cars who feel their vehicle is worth keeping on the road.  After all many do not really know if they like a vehicle until they have driven it for some time and the quality of any vehicle is measure over many owners not just the first one. The demand for Ford car parts suggests that the British public love these cars and want to keep them running forever and even when involved in an accident there are those salvage fixers who want to put them back on the road.

There is a difference between Ford parts that are bought because of reliability issues and those, because of the age and usage of the vehicle and it is the latter that Ford are asking prices for and in fact most other parts tend not to be supplied by breaker yards anyway. This should not be a surprise with many manufacturers being much of a likeness now a days and technology shared across certain makes, it is a tribute to the designers who just make these cars better and better with each new model that is released.

Big Pay Checks For UK CEOs, Well Check Out What Ford Paid Their Chief Executive In USA

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 11:59 am

You can’t go a day without hearing the debate about high pay for executives during this tough trading times with austerity measures everywhere.  There just does not seem to be any correlation between the large increases we have seen in executive pay yet the huge job losses and poor trading we have seen within companies. Well Ford of USA have now entered the debate as it seems Ford paid their chief executive Alan Mullany a package that equates to $29.5m.

This may raise a few eyebrows as Ford’s share price dropped 36% last year according to the financial times.  However the defence was the gains made in previous years outweighed any reductions in other areas. There is no doubt that Ford is a high profile company, but the debate is likely to continue  across other members of the board and other manufacturers.

Ford Truck Plant From Mexico To Lorain County

Filed under: News — admin @ 10:19 pm

There seems to be a bucking of the trend with the latest news that Ford is moving work from Mexico to Ohio saving 1400 jobs in the USA operation.  Many USA manufacturers have in the past opted for the cheaper labour and cost within Mexico, over the rising costs of the USA.

A nice $15m will be saved in State credits, but Ford states wit will invest  $128m in the plant and $16bn across the USA in the next 4 years, a clear message of a commitment to their home country.

The truck will be a new model replacing the Ecoline van currently being manufactured at Avon Lake, the agreement for the tax credit insists that operations remain in Ohio for 18 years.

Ford And Google Aim To Increase Engine Life

Filed under: Uncategorized — lloyd @ 4:57 pm

Industry giants Ford and Google are joining forces to try and increase the performance and lifetime of car engines.

The deal was announced at Google’s I/O Developers conference earlier this week. Google says it will use its patented API technology to try and predict drivers behaviours when on the road.

Ford admitted they have for a long time been interested in the patterns surrounding driver behaviour as they feel they have the technology available to optimise engine consumption to these habits.

Sadly the research period is not even due to start for another five years, so you still need to bare in mind the current lifetime of an engine. But there’s no need to panic if you find you have to replace a full engine system or even the full car . Services such as SalvageSpareFinder can find you a a second hand salvage vehicle at the price you want to pay.

Ford also hope that using Google Prediction API will help them reduce the emissions of vehicles and increase the energy efficiency of more fuel hungry vehicles.

The announcement comes exactly a year after Ford’s US rival GM announced that they would be integrating Google Maps and Google’s Android OS with their latest vehicles.

Ford Enters SEO And QR Code Market

Filed under: Uncategorized — lloyd @ 2:30 pm

Ford Motor Company have revealed their digital marketing plans for 2011.

Ford will carry on implementing SEO into their websites to keep themselves top of Google’s page rankings, another interesting strategy Ford are implementing is the use of printed QR codes. QR (Quick Response) codes have been bridging the gap between online and offline marketing, they work as a printed link which when scanned by a smartphone will direct users to a pre-determined link. The current batch usually direct to a tailored mobile site or full HTML if the code is typed into a full size browser. Future plans for this technology includes the linking to a short introductory video/promotional video that makes for a more user interactive experience.

For a business to succeed through online marketing and  e-commerce it must employ an experienced SEO company who will asses and compile a marketing report for said business. The importance of using an experienced and knowledgeable firm cannot be stressed enough, the wrong implementation of SEO can result in disaster as BMW found out in 2006 when their .de domain was blacklisted by Google for what it called ‘deceiving users’.  Although the firm recovered its online creditability it’s not a risk a small or medium sized business should be wiling to take.

The indescribable size of the internet makes advertising space readily available, and although much like Television and Billboard advertising you pay a premium for prime time and top sites all adverts are likely to be viewed and have the same chance to be acted upon.

Uninsured Vehicles Scrapped

Filed under: Uncategorized — lloyd @ 5:01 pm

One of the main reasons behind scrapping a vehicle is the rising cost of insurance, especially amongst young and new drivers.

Authorities is Northern Ireland are currently exploring the possibility of fitting a data recorder to vehicles which assesses how the vehicle is driven. The recent announcement from the European Court of Justice also means that female drivers can no longer expect to receive dispensation when applying for insurance.

Caroline Currie, sales director at Autoline, said:

"This is an entirely voluntary type of insurance package which could have huge repercussions for the insurance industry.”

The technology used is capable of recognising and recording data that can then be analysed to determine the driving habits of drivers. A similar scheme to trial the technology has been running in America for the past few years.

AutoLine is currently pioneering the scheme and is in talks the a number of insurers in a bid to have the scheme out and ready in time for the insurance hike in 2012.

Sometime it is not feasible to insure an uninsured vehicle, if you don’t feel like selling them using a cash for salvage car service can cover for any situation that arise. Scrapping a car yourself may not always be as easy as it looks, councils still charge and dealing with expensive authorised treatment facilities with a potentially dangerous vehicle is both expensive an time consuming. Scrap-Car only works with registered DVLA breakers and scrap yards so you can rest assured that your vehicle will be disposed of following all EU and UK legislations.

Scrapping A Ford

Filed under: Uncategorized — lloyd @ 3:27 pm

Car scrapping is currently one of the fastest growing industries thanks to the high rate of ownership in the UK where people are owning cars for less and less time. The growing mobility of the UK population also means that people are looking at getting rid of their unwanted vehicle quickly and easily.

The current costs of running a car also make scrapping an attractive option, but what actually happens when you put your car in for scrap? Services such as car scrapping servicetake your request and distribute it amongst a network of accredited breakers and scrap yards.

Once a firm has decided that they want your vehicle and a price been agreed you can either arrange to drop it off or take advantage of the free vehicle collection service if it’s required. The vehicle is then taken to a specialist treatment plant drained and dismantled as per strict EU guidelines.

Once the car has been scrapped you will receive an ELV (End of Life Vehicle) certificate which confirms that the vehicle was disposed of in an economically and environmentally friendly way.

With over five years experience in the online automotive industry users can rest assured that that they will receive the best service possible.  A unique online auction site within the network also means that breakers can bid on your vehicle and you can get the best price possible.
